Frozen Food in the Air Fryer
Most frozen food only comes with oven instructions. The same rule works for nearly all of it, as long as you cook from frozen when the packet says so.
Settings
| Food | Packet, fan oven | Air fryer |
|---|---|---|
| Chicken nuggets | 190°C 12 min | 170°C 10 min |
| Fish fingers | 210°C 12 to 15 min | 190°C 10 to 12 min |
| Breaded fish fillets | 200°C 18 to 20 min | 180°C 14 to 16 min |
| Potato waffles | 200°C 12 to 15 min | 180°C 10 to 12 min |
| Spring rolls | 180°C 12 to 16 min | 160°C 10 to 13 min |
These settings are a starting point, not a guarantee: air fryers and packets vary. Undercooked frozen food, especially chicken and fish, can cause food poisoning, so always check it's steaming hot all the way through before eating. How to tell it's done.
Packets vary a lot between brands. Use the converter with the numbers on yours.
Shaking and turning
Shake or turn smaller things like nuggets halfway through. Turn breaded fish once, gently, halfway through, so the coating doesn't tear.
How to tell it's done
Cooked through and steaming hot all the way, with no cold or icy patches in the middle. Follow the packet if it says to cook from frozen.
What goes wrong
- Frozen pizza often won't fit flat in a basket. Check before you buy one for the air fryer.
- Things stuck together in the bag cook unevenly. Break them apart before they go in.
- Don't defrost something the packet says to cook from frozen.
